I’m out of town in sunny Lynchburg, Virginia today for a marketing adventure with the day job, so it will be a quickie this morning. Last night we grabbed a fabulous pizza dinner at the Waterstone Pizza place downtown. As always, this is less a review of their food and more a design review, but the pizza was excellent! The space was an old mill or warehouse and it was impeccably repurposed. The actual graphics work and sign installations are going to be feeling pretty dated in the not too distant future. The real design winner was the brewery located upstairs, whose beer was featured at Waterstone.
The Jefferson Street Brewery had a collection of growlers decorating near our table. I’m not sure what the story behind the different logos is, but I’m assuming maybe these two on the right were the other logos leading up to the current one seen multiple times on the left. If you check out the website you can see their treatment of the logo in color with some loosely vintage shading, while maintaining the more industrial modern feel that you get from the white growler version. I think it’s clear, clean and vibrant while still giving off a hint of Lynchburg. And the beer was good too!
