The poster themes for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London have been released. Personally, I have mixed feelings about all of them. I think as a blanket statement, the posters are too abstract to translate well into logo-form and too detailed to communicate properly, without some third party tweaking. Out of context, almost none of them could stand alone without description or title. That being said, as fine arts pieces, I really love the Rachel Whiteread piece and the Howard Hodgekin. I think the Martin Creed podium is a really lovely idea, concisely depicting, without a lot of bells and whistles, what it is that we all hope for each athlete. What do you think about the submissions?
